Dr. Mohiuddin Ahsanul Kabir Chowdhury Appointed as Takeda Chair in Public Health

We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Mohiuddin Ahsanul Kabir Chowdhury has been appointed to the prestigious Takeda Chair of Public Health at the Asian University for Women (AUW) as of July 2024. This significant milestone reflects his exceptional contributions to public health education and research and underscores AUW’s commitment to advancing global health equity.
Dr. Chowdhury, who also serves as Associate Dean of Natural Sciences, Program Director, and Associate Professor of Public Health at AUW, brings a wealth of academic and professional expertise to this role. His impressive body of work includes more than 40 publications in international peer-reviewed journals and leadership of numerous impactful research projects.
A graduate of the University of South Carolina, USA, Dr. Chowdhury’s doctoral research examined the association between prescriptions of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and acetaminophen during pregnancy and developmental outcomes such as autism spectrum disorders and intellectual disabilities in children. His diverse research portfolio spans maternal and child health, implementation research, health systems research, autism and disability, migration and health, gender-based violence, communicable diseases, and health disparities.
Dr. Chowdhury’s teaching repertoire at AUW is equally remarkable, encompassing courses such as Introduction to Public Health, Introduction to Epidemiology, Environmental Health, and Reproductive, Maternal, and Child Health, among others. Additionally, he actively supervises students’ theses and provides mentorship to over 20 students, furthering AUW’s mission to cultivate leaders in public health.
