Accreditation & Recognition
Asian University for Women was established in Bangladesh through the Asian University for Women Act, 2006 (Act No. 40 of the year 2006). AUW has been deemed as an independent “international university” by the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh as conveyed here.
The New England Commission of Higher Education has determined that Asian University for Women is eligible to proceed with an application for candidacy for accreditation within two years. A determination of eligibility is not candidacy or accreditation, nor does it indicate a likelihood of eventual accreditation. Questions about eligibility and the accreditation process should be directed to the President of the Commission. AUW was preparing the necessary self-study but in the wake of the dislocations caused by Covid-19, at AUW’s request, the New England Commission suspended the consideration of AUW for accreditation in order to provide it with additional time to complete the self-study.
AUW will be undergoing an evaluation visit in March 2024. If you wish to submit any comments, please see this link: https://asian-university.org/who-we-are/accreditation-recognition/public-comment-on-auw/
