Housing & Dining

Students come to AUW from great distances and diverse perspectives. The Office of Residential Life is here to make each student feel part of the AUW family and have a welcome and comfortable living experience.

Residential Facilities

The AUW temporary campus is located in the heart of Chittagong, Bangladesh. The campus is composed of several buildings on a secure lane. The buildings are used for classrooms, offices, student housing, health and wellness centers, and additional amenities.

For full information about Housing and Dining at AUW, please review our Student Handbook. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Office of Residence Life: residence.life@auw.edu.bd.

Housing

Residence Halls

The students entering Access Academy are placed in rooms with students from other countries to help improve conversational English skills, cross- cultural interactions, and build community. The room sizes vary by hall and range from double to five-person rooms. Each spring, the outgoing Access Academy and returning Undergraduate students fill out a Housing Survey. This is used during the placement and roommate matching for the next year.

The Residence Halls are broken into eight Houses: Wisdom, Truth, Justice, Courage, Imagination, Service, Joy and Dignity. The names were given by students and represent the qualities which they hope to become hallmarks of AUW graduates.

Each House has Resident Assistants (RA). The RAs are exemplary students who have been trained to facilitate community meetings, resolve conflicts, develop programs, and act as a resource for students on campus. These students work closely with Residence Life staff to make the Houses as welcoming, inclusive, safe, and secure as possible. The RAs also organize programs to build community throughout the year.

Housekeeping Services

The Residence Halls are cleaned regularly by housekeeping services. The housekeeping staff cleans public areas and common washrooms daily. The student rooms and their private washrooms are cleaned twice a month. In addition to services provided by cleaning staff, the students are provided supplies and encouraged to clean their spaces in between cleaning staff visits as needed. Additionally, a weekly laundry service for bedding is provided to students.

Amenities

Within the residence halls are various facilities, open to all students, to make AUW feel more like a home away from home.

These amenities include:

  • Gym / Athletic Equipment
  • TV Lounge
  • Rooftop Lounge
  • Kitchens
  • Ironing Rooms
