The significant increase in the enrollment of students from Afghan and Rohingya background (as well as others from Syria and Yemen) had created an acute need for mental health support at AUW. As AUW assembled anew a team to support mental health services, a group of US-based psychiatrists and psychologists led by prominent Harvard-trained psychiatrist Dr. Anne Hallward volunteered to help directly and mobilize others from around the US in joining her to create and deliver a workshop series remotely. Hundreds of AUW students participated in the program. And the program continues on with a new dedication from the original volunteers and others.
Harvard Magazine reports on this extraordinary collaboration.
