Savitri Kumari, AUW Class of 2015, ranked number one after completing the Jharkhand Civil Services exam in India

AUW is delighted to share another graduate success story as Savitri Kumari, Class of 2015, recently ranked first in the Jharkhand Civil Services exam. Savitri, an Environmental Sciences major, was among 350,000 candidates taking the exam for Jharkhand state, she showcased outstanding skill and ability resulting in her taking the top position overall.
While at AUW, Savitri excelled in the liberal arts mode of education and balanced her classes and lab sessions for her BSc degree, whilst being an active member of Student Government and Anthology Club. She developed such a strong commitment to AUW that after graduating, she took a one-year Fellowship at the university, where she established and managed the Science & Math Center, which provides one-on-one tutoring for students.
“AUW has equipped me with excellent academic knowledge, which constantly helps me in providing the same knowledge to students during tutoring sessions. It has also taught me softer skills, such as communication, professionalism, and confidence.” Savitri was able to further enhance her professional skills during a summer internship at Starbucks Headquarters in Seattle, United States, where she analyzed market opportunities for expansion in India.
After completing her Masters of Science in Environmental Change and Management at the University of Oxford, Savitri began working as a researcher in Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, India. Looking ahead, her remarkable exam results help her reach one step closer to her dream of working for the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change in India.
