Asian University for Women (AUW) located in Chittagong, Bangladesh, is the first of its kind: an independent international institution dedicated to excellence, women’s education and leadership development–rooted in the contexts and aspirations of the people of Asia, but global in outlook.

Asian University for Women seeks a dedicated Teaching Fellow for the MA in Education Program. This program is a Women Teaching Women, Women earning from Women (WTW-WLW) initiative dedicated to nurturing a cohort of educational leaders, instructors, experts, and policymakers committed to effecting social change through education. Students are motivated to make inclusive and equitable quality education accessible, especially for crisis-affected communities, particularly adolescent girls. Our program runs in collaboration with Johns Hopkins University, Boston College and California State University.

The Teaching Fellow will collaborate within a team to ensure the smooth operation of the program and the effective delivery of classes. The responsibilities and requirements are provided below:

Main Responsibilities of the Job:

Teaching Fellows will be assigned one course in any of the education-related areas, such as Pedagogy, Education Policy, Education Leadership, Ed-Technology, or Ed-Psychology. They will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the implementation of virtual classes with partner universities;
  • Coordinating with the partner professor to support student learning;
  • Leading in-person group discussion sections for students in the course; Meeting weekly with all TFs supporting the same class to discuss content and plan activities for the weekly discussion sections;
  • Supporting students in accessing and using online materials (such as Canvas, Blackboard, Google Classroom, and Zoom);
  • Holding weekly office hours;
  • Grading

Program Support:

  • Communicating with the AUW staff about shared events and policies between the undergraduate and graduate students;
  • Recruiting AUW alumnae and other promising candidates for the Graduate Program in Education;
  • Acting as a liaison between the Graduate Program in Education team on the ground and the AUWSF team in the US. Teaching Fellows should have the following skills, education, and experience

Teaching Fellows should have the following skills, education, and experience: 

  • A Master’s Degree in related fields, preferably from a reputable international institution.
  • Fluency in English
  • Outstanding written and verbal skills
  • Experience in teaching or leading group discussions
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback and guidance on student academic writing
  • High degree of comfort and proficiency in computer skills and technological platforms, such as Zoom, Canvas, Blackboard, etc.
  • Experience living or working in an international or multinational community

Confidentiality: 

  • Given the precarious circumstances of many of the AUW alumnae who are participating in this Graduate Program in Education,
  • The Teaching Fellows must agree to keep all student information, including names, emails, phone numbers, photos, and any other personal information about the students, completely confidential.

Salary: Attractive.

Compensation & other benefits: According to AUW policy.
