Senior Director of Students Affairs

 

Position: Senior Director of Students Affairs
Unit: Office of the Registrar
Reports to: Registrar and Chief Operating Officer

Main responsibilities of the role:

  • Maintain oversight of all student affairs including related departments (eg ORL, OSA, CLPD).
  • As line manager, supervise (and work closely with) the Dean of Students to maintain the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of student affairs including co-curricular, events, clubs etc.
  • Develop and coordinate recruitment activities with (or, in their absence, in lieu of) the Director of Admissions.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Admissions to manage regional admission centres, and to ensure quality and consistent representation of AUW.
  • Manage the creation and distribution of regular communications, such as newsletters and email updates, to keep students, faculty, staff, alumnae, and external stakeholders informed about news, events, and opportunities related to AUW.
  • Manage the marketing campaigns of AUW.
  • Manage the social and digital media of AUW.
  • Develop and implement strategies to solicit alumnae support, including volunteering, mentoring, and financial contributions.
  • Coordinate and support regional alumnae chapters or affinity groups, providing leadership and guidance to ensure their activities align with AUW’s mission and goals.
  • Collaborate with academic departments and other campus units to facilitate alumnae involvement in student mentorship programmes, guest speaking opportunities, and career development initiatives.
  • Track and evaluate the success of alumnae engagement efforts through metrics such as event attendance, participation rates, and alumnae feedback.
  • Manage the alumnae relations budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources to support engagement activities and initiatives.
  • Plan and coordinate a variety of events and activities, such as alumnae reunions, networking events, career fairs, and social gatherings, to foster connections among alumni and between alumnae and AUW.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as fundraising and AUWSF, to integrate alumnae engagement initiatives into broader institutional goals and campaigns.
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date alumnae database, ensuring that contact information, employment details, and other relevant data are properly recorded.
  • Work collaboratively with AUW students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Registrar & COO or VC.

Other requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree from a reputable university (a postgraduate qualification will be highly valued).
  • Minimum 5 years’ managerial experience in a higher education institution.
  • Excellent written and spoken English (written and spoken Bangla will be highly valued).
  • Effective time management and ability to prioritise work.
  • Very high competence in office software including the Google Suite, Microsoft 365, Teams, Zoom, etc.
  • A collaborative approach to work, the ability to manage competing priorities, and willingness to take part in intensive work during periods of high workload and strict deadlines.
  • Experience with marketing and communications, with a track record of successful campaigns with students, faculty and staff.
  • Experience with alumni relations, fundraising, or related fields, with a track record of success in developing and executing strategic initiatives.
  • Knowledge of fundraising principles and strategies, with the ability to effectively engage alumni in philanthropic activities and campaigns
