We are looking for a strong candidate to fill the position of “Program Coordinator (Japan Programs).” Reporting to the Director of Center of Leadership and Professional Development, the Program Coordinator will oversee all AUW partnership programs in Japan including the student exchange program with the University of Tokyo, the summer internship with UNIQLO and other Japanese corporations, outreach to Japanese organizations, and assist with developing the Japanese language program at AUW. This position will be based in Chittagong, Bangladesh, and we are seeking a coordinator who can commit for a minimum of two years to support the continuity of the programs. We are looking for native Japanese speakers for this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with staff at the Japanese Universities and AUW to organize the summer and year-long exchange program between the two institutions.
  • Create program documents such as itineraries and booklets to effectively communicate travel plans and necessary information for all participants, staff, and students.
  • Support the visa application process for AUW students going to Japan and Japanese students coming to AUW.
  • Coordinate the logistics of summer internship placements in Japan including circulating job descriptions, selecting top applicants, communicating between the organization and the students, as well as administrative and logistical tasks.
  • Develop and manage a Japanese language, history, and culture program at the Japan Center.
  • Conduct outreach to Japanese corporations which have a presence in Bangladesh for funding and internship opportunities.
  • Act as liaison for the Japan Embassy in Dhaka and various Japanese Agencies in Dhaka.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from a reputable university.
  • Native Japanese speaker.
  • Strong written and oral skills in Japanese and English.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with Japanese government and corporation representatives.
  • Detailed oriented and superb organization skills for assisting with multiple tasks and projects.
  • Excellent leadership skills, working effectively across teams to foster collaboration and efficiency.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to encourage collaboration and integration with various personnel, including students, faculty, and staff.
  • Experience working in Asia, including knowledge of various languages and/or country cultures, is a plus.
  • Candidate should be passionate about women’s education, language immersion, and international development.
  • Passion and interest in working with and supporting the needs and aspirations of young people.
  • Maintaining ethical standards in the workplace, promoting fairness and equity in all processes.

Compensation: Attractive salary with pay progression.
