The Asian University for Women (AUW) seeks applications for a full-time faculty position in Biology as Professor of Biological Science. Job Summary:

The faculty of Biology plays a crucial role in helping students master the science of Biology. Through planning and delivering engaging lessons including lab experiments and other scientific investigations to enable all pupils to make good or better progress. Demonstrating excellent subject knowledge with the ability to communicate this in an enthusiastic and imaginative way.

Main Responsibilities of the Job:

• Plan, develop, and teach courses and seminars for undergraduate students
• Serve as an academic advisor and mentor to students
• Supervise students in developing and implementing senior thesis projects including guiding them in data analysis, thesis writing, and presentation of findings
• Attract research funding and engage in research
• Provide leadership and service on academic committees

Teaching requirement: six 4-credit courses per academic year.

Requirements:

Essential:

• A Doctorate in Chemistry or Biology or relevant subject area.
• Evidence of teaching excellence.
• Excellent quantitative and analytical skills.
• Demonstrativeness of effective teaching in relevant courses.
• Strong understanding of inclusivity and diversity in the classroom and beyond.

Desirable:

• Understanding of the liberal arts model of education
• Experience or interest in working in Asia
• Experience or interest in teaching at women-only institutions.
• Ability and willingness to teach students whose native language is not English

Field of expertise:

Ability to design and teach courses in Organic Chemistry, Synthetic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Bio-molecules, as well as introductory courses for a Pre-med Program, with a focus on relevance to Asia.
