Position:	Pre-UG Student Wellness Counselor
Reports to:	The Director of the Center for Student Wellness and Success
Contract Type:	Regular
Location:	Chittagong (BD)

 

The Center for Student Wellness and Success in the Pre – Undergraduate Program serves the needs of students who are facing emotional, psychological, and academic difficulties. The center serves students by providing in-depth interviewing and counseling followed by providing concrete action plans to help students succeed in the program or transition to another life track. The Center is staffed by a Director, an assistant, and several counselors.

Main Responsibilities of the Job:

• Interview students and keep records of their individual challenges with appropriate follow up;
• Create and monitor Individualized IEPs (individual education plans) for students who require them;
• Help to train Pre-UG instructors and advisors on best practices in dealing with students facing a variety of issues that interfere with their academic success;
• Work closely with the Director and Academic Advisors in identifying students who need help;
• The position requires some teaching every term.

Other Requirements:

• The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor’s Degree in education or the social sciences.
• Exposure to and working with marginalized populations.
• Teaching experience at the university level.
