Director of English Language Development Program

Position: Director: English Language Development Program
Reports to: Director of Young Scholar’s At Risk Program
Location: Chittagong (BD)

 

Main Responsibilities of the Job:

The English Language Development Program Director is responsible for the development and implementation of the English immersion program within the Young Scholars at Risk Program.

Specifically, the director will:

  • Develop and establish the curriculum, both written and taught.
  • Design and select resources for the English immersion program.
  • Establish classes and tutorials for students within the program.
  • Manage all activities related to student enrollment, assessment, goal setting, and individual education plans for students participating in the program.
  • Coordinate schedules of teachers and tutors.
  • Assist with the recruitment of teachers and tutors.
  • Orient, train, support and lead the efforts of the English immersion program faculty and staff.
  • Assess and evaluate student progress.
  • Provide bi-weekly reports on a variety of outcomes.
  • Maintain English Immersion program data in spreadsheets and databases.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:

  • Five + years of experience teaching ESL/EAL at a post-secondary level.
  • Senior Management experience within an educational setting.
  • Experience leading teams and individuals.
  • Experience working with displaced and or marginalized populations.
  • Experience in curriculum and program development.

Qualifications:

  • MA or P.H.D. in TESL.
  • TESOL or TEFL Certification Preferred.
  • Experience in curriculum and program development.
  • Experience in post-secondary education.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and with those from Middle Eastern countries.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and social-emotional skills.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed education.
