Founded in 2008, Asian University for Women (AUW), currently has around 1900 students from 18 countries across pre-university, undergraduate, and master’s programs. The Clinical Psychologist will provide psychological assessment, therapy, and counseling services to AUW students, faculty, and staff. She will play a key role in promoting mental health, resilience, and personal development in a multicultural academic community. The role involves both individual clinical work and broader campus-wide mental health initiatives, ensuring a safe and supportive environment that aligns with AUW’s mission of empowering women through education.
Main Responsibilities of the Job:
As a member of the Wellness Team, the Psychiatrist will play an important role in building and delivering comprehensive mental health care for AUW students. Her key responsibilities in the field of Clinical & Counseling Services, Preventive & Developmental Programs, Collaboration & Referral and Administrative & Institutional responsibilities includes following:
Clinical & Counseling Services
- Conduct psychological assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and clinical interviews.
- Provide individual and group therapy for a wide range of concerns, including stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, adjustment issues, and relationship difficulties.
- Develop treatment plans and therapeutic interventions tailored to each client.
- Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in all counseling sessions.
- Provide crisis intervention and suicide risk assessments when necessary.
Preventive & Developmental Programs
- Design and deliver workshops, training, and psycho education sessions on mental health, stress management, resilience, and coping skills.
- Support orientation and transition programs for new students with a focus on mental health awareness.
- Develop initiatives to reduce stigma around mental health within the AUW community.
Collaboration & Referral
- Work closely with medical officers, psychiatrists, counselors, faculty, and student services staff.
- Refer students to psychiatrists or external services when medication or specialized care is needed.
- Provide consultation and guidance to faculty/staff in managing student well-being, while respecting confidentiality.
Administrative & Institutional Role
- Maintain accurate clinical records and case documentation.
- Prepare periodic reports on counseling services and mental health trends.
- Contribute to AUW’s mental health and wellness policy development.
- Support the Health & Wellness Center in creating a holistic student support framework
Qualifications & Experience
- Master’s degree, MPhil or PhD in Clinical Psychology from a recognized institution.
- Minimum 3–5 years of clinical experience (experience with adolescents/young adults preferred).
- Training and experience in evidence-based psychotherapies (CBT, DBT, trauma-informed therapy, etc.).
- Experience in crisis intervention, group facilitation, and psychoeducational workshops. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work in a cross-cultural, diverse setting. Specially need Proficiency in English and knowledge on Rohingya or Persian is an advantage.
