About the Portfolio Learning Program (PLP)
AUW firmly believes in preparing graduates to tackle the world beyond university. Given the unique backgrounds of our graduates, many need to find new paths and build new homes as they approach graduation. To ensure that they have the skills necessary to do so and stand on their own feet, the Portfolio Learning Program brings together various learning opportunities (especially in the form of online courses) from across the globe, and presents it altogether in a comprehensive package of academic learning supplementation, skill development and professional growth.
The Portfolio Program’s current online offerings include, but are not necessarily limited to, Google Certification courses, CISCO’s CCNA, Future Nation’s Frontier Tech career-track learning paths, and the Afghan Girls Thrive initiative. This list is constantly shifting to better accommodate the needs of the AUW student body.
In time, the PLP is intended to grow into a large-scale support system for our entire student body that gives them employable, marketable, professional skills in addition to the necessary foundations for successfully tackling practical work environments, alongside their regular undergraduate academic journeys, so that no student feels lost, left behind or unprepared on graduation.
Main Responsibilities of the Job:
As part of the PLP’s mission to have every AUW student workplace ready before graduation, the program offers various professional certification programs to the broader student body. One of these programs is the CCNA certification offered by CISCO as an entry-level qualification for aspiring IT professionals. Demonstrating mastery of the material covered in this certification opens up many potential professional avenues for qualified students, who may use this as a springboard for their career in IT or for further academic and professional development.
The CISCO Instructor & Online Learning Facilitator for the PLP is a fulltime role, with time and responsibilities divided among pedagogical functions for the CCNA professional certification course, and facilitating the delivery of other online learning content under the PLP. In this role, you will develop detailed curricula for the CCNA course, and advise on matters of logistical operation for the course including but not limited to enrolment numbers, section partitions, and required support staff / structures. As CISCO Instructor, you will oversee the performance and progress of students enrolled in the courses, and consistently collect feedback from the students to tailor the experience to student needs. In brief, the CISCO Instructor will in all reasonable and relevant ways facilitate students’ uninterrupted learning journeys, coordinating with pertinent AUW community members in pursuit of these aims.
Furthermore, as an Online Learning Facilitator in the Portfolio Learning Program, you will be expected to facilitate student learning in other online course-tracks under the PLP. This may include but is not necessarily limited to communicating with students, tracking their progress, meeting them on a regular basis to identify needs and concerns, planning solutions for the same, etc.
Above all, this role is for a dedicated educator with experience and knowledge of contemporary professional and corporate practices, who wishes to uplift students and ease them into the skills they will need to tackle the complexities of the modern workplace, while nourishing a spirit of self-agency and exploration, especially via taking advantage of available digital resources. A passion for assisting students with such learning, alongside the willingness to consistently and constantly push forward in pursuit and service of the AUW’s core founding values, is ultimately the key requisite.

- Developing curricula details for CISCO Academy courses offered at AUW, in line with pedagogical best practices and the innovative learning models required to support AUW’s unique and diverse student body, compliant with CISCO regulations

- Helping students manage PLP learning with other academic / extracurricular obligations
- Listening to students with the aim of identifying avenues wherein the PLP can better serve student needs and requests
- Other tasks and duties relevant to the service of the above-described aims
- Facilitating and managing the delivery of online courses at AUW under the PLP
Other Requirements:
