Assistant Manager/ Manager – Finance

 

Position: Assistant Manager/ Manager – Finance
Unit: Finance Department
Reports to: Finance Director
Job Type: Full-time
Location: Chattogram, Bangladesh

 

Main Responsibilities of the Job:

  • Maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports that are appropriate for the users and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that all statutory requirements of the organization are met including Income Tax, VAT, and Withholding Tax etc.
  • Prepare all supporting information for the annual audit and liaise with the external auditors as necessary.
  • Document and maintain complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions.
  • Maintain financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and petty cash.
  • Ensure timely reconciliation of bank and investment accounts.
  • Review monthly results and implement monthly variance reporting.
  • Oversee the book keeping function including maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll.
  • Ensure that Assets are properly recorded, amortized, and disposed of as appropriate and ensure timely physical verification of assets.
  • Assist the Director, Finance, with financial reporting as required at Board meetings.

Budget preparation:

  • Establish guidelines for budget and forecast preparation, and prepare the annual budget in consultation with the all the departments and DF/CFO.
  • Ensuring that all expenses are tracked in accordance with the budget.

Project management accounting:

  • Maintain financial records for each project in a manner that facilitates management reports.
  • Ensure that accurate and timely financial statements are prepared in accordance with contract agreements with Donors.
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting on the financial activity of individual projects.

Other Requirements:

  • Educational Background:
    • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • Professional qualification such as CACC (Partly qualified)
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in tax, VAT, and donor compliance, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
    • Maintain appropriate technology that meets the organization’s information requirements and financial resources.
    • Develop internal controls to minimize risks to the organization.
    • Negotiate with Banks for financial services as required and appropriate.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of Bangladeshi tax and VAT regulations.
    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
    • Proficiency in financial software
    • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Languages: Fluent in both Bengali and English.
