The Board of Trustees of the Asian University for Women have unanimously elected Dr. Sangita Rayamajhi, the current Dean of the Faculty, to serve as Interim Vice Chancellor from July 1, 2026 to when a permanent Vice Chancellor’s appointment becomes effective.

Dr. Rayamajhi, a Nepalese national, is a member of the founding faculty at AUW where she serves as Professor of Literature. We are grateful to her for taking on this important responsibility at AUW as the search for a new Vice Chancellor for AUW continues.

We would like to acknowledge our profound debt of gratitude to Dr. Rubana Huq for her service to AUW as Vice Chancellor over the past four and half years.  Rubana’s term at AUW saw a rapid increase in AUW’s student enrollment, expansion of faculty to incorporate new undergraduate majors such as Humanities and Applied Math and Data Science and a Master’s program in Apparel and Fashion Management.  She also initiated the construction of AUW’s Campus Center which is expected to be ready for occupancy in September 2027, ushering a new phase in AUW’s progress.  We are grateful that Rubana will remain vitally engaged with AUW as Vice Chancellor Emerita and will continue to direct several of the programs that she has initiated.
