Dr Sangita Rayamajhi
Interim Vice Chancellor
Dr. Sangita Rayamajhi, is a Senior Professor with almost three decades of teaching at Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu. She is the first woman in Nepal to get her PhD in English Literature and now she specializes in Asian Studies, Women and Gender and Sexuality Studies. She was the inaugural faculty and Vice Provost for International Faculty Exchanges and Programs at the Asian University for Women, Bangladesh 2009-2015. She earned her Post Doc. “Cultural Memories as Reflected in Dramaturgy: Nepali and American Women’s Experiences” from Pomona College of the Claremont Colleges, Claremont, CA., USA. She is the recipient of National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Fellowship, Fulbright Scholarship and Scholar Rescue Fund Fellowship (SRF). She has several books to her name, Can a Woman Rebel? Who is the Daughter of Nepal? All Mothers are Working Mothers (a play) and two books, Women’s Roles in Asia (Women’s Roles through History), 2013 and Women and Violence around the World, (co-author and co-editor), ABC CLIO, Greenwood Nov. 30, 2019, and Reclaiming Forgotten Narratives (a novel), Notion Press, India 2025. She was the Chair of the Coordination Committee and Professor at the Institute of Advanced Communication, Education and Research (IACER), Pokhara University (Jan. 2023-Dec. 2024). She is the Director of Center for Advanced Studies in South Asia (CASSA) and South Asian Foundation for Academic Research (SAFAR), which are Academic Organizations. At present as visiting Professor she is teaching South Asian Literature and Gender and Sexuality Studies at the Asian University for Women. She is the Founding Director of Indigenous Peoples‘ Center, (IPC), AUW. She serves as the Interim Dean of Academic Affairs at the University.
Ms Farhina Hoque
Dean of Students
Ms. Farhina Hoque earned her bachelor’s degree in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics from the Asian University for Women, with a minor in Development Studies. She holds a master’s degree in Public Policy and Leadership at East Delta University. With over five years of experience in mentorship and student affairs, she is deeply passionate about guiding students and fostering inclusive, engaging campus environments. Her career in student affairs has seen her play a pivotal role in shaping vibrant campus life, leading student-led clubs, associations, and initiatives that empower women to embrace challenges and develop leadership skills. As the Dean of Students, Ms. Farhina will provide strategic leadership for Student Affairs and oversee initiatives related to student well-being, student conduct, leadership development, and campus engagement. She will work closely with the Deputy Registrar’s Office, Security Office, and Office of Residence Life to foster a safe, supportive, and enriching environment that enables students to thrive both personally and academically.
Throughout her professional journey, Farhina had the opportunity to work with organizations such as the Danish Refugee Council, Caritas Bangladesh, and the Corporate Social Responsibility department of UNIQLO Japan. She also served as a steering committee member for WEDU’s Local Chapter, where she provided strategic support in launching city-based hubs designed to help communities connect, converse, and grow together. In addition, she has contributed as a mentor to the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Mentorship Program, where she developed a legacy project focused on open community building in Mukuru Kwa Njenga, Kenya.
Ms Naznin Sultana
Director of Finance
Naznin Sultana is a qualified Chartered Accountant with over 15 years of experience in finance, audit, compliance, donor-funded projects, human resources, and construction finance management. Since joining Asian University for Women (AUW) in 2017, she has served as Director of Finance, leading the university’s financial strategy, budgeting, internal controls, donor management, compliance, and campus development project financing. She also served as Director of Human Resources for three years, providing strategic leadership in organizational and people management.
Ms. Sultana is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) and completed her article ship with KPMG Rahman Rahman Huq, a member firm of the global Big Four network. She graduated with distinction, securing 9th place in the order of merit in her bachelor’s degree program. She is also a Certified Income Tax Practitioner (ITP) and a member of the Chittagong Taxes Bar Association (CTBA). Prior to joining AUW, she held senior finance positions in a leading private university and a national NGO.
She participated in the International Staff Week 2022 – MaGIC International Mobility Program at University of Trento, reflecting her commitment to international collaboration and professional development in higher education.
In addition to her executive role at AUW, Ms. Sultana serves as an Independent Director of Chittagong Stock Exchange PLC. She is also actively involved in social and professional initiatives as an advisor to Mirsarai Education Society and an honorary member of the Chittagong Regional Committee of ICAB.
Ms Amena Begam BPM DIG Retd
Deputy Registrar, Campus Safety, Security and Empowerment
Before joining I served in Bangladesh Police for 26 years entrusted with the different portfolios. I worked in the UN Peacekeeping Mission in East Timor as Deputy Commander of Bangladesh Formed Police Unit. I was Superintendent of Police of Rangamati and Narsingdi District, Deputy Police Commissioner of Police Chattogram Metropolitan Police, Additional Police Commissioner of CMP and Deputy Inspector General (Protection and Protocol), Special Branch Bangladesh Police. I was elected Region Asia coordinator of International Association of Women Police(IAWP) from 2009 to 2015 and Conference coordinator of First Asia Region Women Police Conference in 2012. I am an Eisenhower Fellow of the 2012 South Asia Region Fellowship Program, Philadelphia USA. I presented on the policing experience in IAWP Annual Conference held in Cardiff UK, Manitoba Canada and Kentucky, and Minnesota USA.
I was nominated to run the President of Bangladesh Police Women Network (BPWN)from 2018-2023 during the term successfully running the online training for the Police officers on Gender Responsive Policing and drafted the Strategic Planning of BPWN in collaboration with UN Women and Bangladesh Police.
Ms Tapu Chowdhury
Interim Deputy Registrar, External Affairs
Ms. Tapu Chowdhury, the Interim Deputy Registrar at AUW, joined the university in 2009 as an Administrative Coordinator and has consistently demonstrated her commitment and expertise across various departments. In 2018, she transitioned into the role of Manager for Events and logistics, where her leadership and administrative skills instigated a transformative change in university services, enhancing efficiency and effectiveness. Her initiatives resulted in cost minimization and a significant reduction in wastage, ultimately contributing to heightened levels of student satisfaction. Recognizing her exceptional capabilities, Ms. Chowdhury was promoted to Assistant Registrar in February 2021.
Before her tenure at AUW, Ms. Chowdhury dedicated six years of service to Thai Airways International, where she undertook diverse responsibilities in customer service, ground handling, communications, and operations.
An alumna of Chittagong University, Chattogram, Bangladesh Ms. Chowdhury holds a first degree in Philosophy. She continued her academic pursuits at the same institution, obtaining an MA and completing an M. Phil degree.
In addition to her professional achievements, Ms. Chowdhury has actively engaged in community service, volunteering with the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society since her school years. Currently, she serves as a life member and an elected committee member of the Red Crescent Alumni Association. She is also a committed life member of the Bangladesh Philosophical Society (BPS).
Ms. Chowdhury has broadened her international exposure through various programs and activities participating in the Women’s Leadership in Asia Program at Ehwa University in 2021, and the International Staff Week 2023, MaGIC International Mobility at Universita di Trento.
Ms Tunazzina Salam
Head of Academic Registry
Tunazzina Salam serves as the Head of Academic Registry at AUW, where her work strengthens academic operations, institutional effectiveness, and student-centered support from enrollment through graduation. Drawing on over 12 years of experience at AUW, she plays a key role in strengthening institutional systems and improving academic service delivery through her expertise in academic data governance, workflow modernization, student records management, SIS/workflow improvement, curriculum configuration, academic advising, retention-focused support, governance processes, commencement ceremonies, and international symposiums.
Her professional development reflects a continued commitment to inclusive and globally engaged higher education, having completed international training on student engagement and internationalization at the University of Trento, Italy. She has also completed executive training in leadership capabilities, positive attitude and personality development, team building, and teamwork through Mcquire Rens Consulting (Pvt) Ltd.
She holds both a BBA in Marketing and Finance and an MBA in Marketing from Independent University, Bangladesh. Currently, she is pursuing an MEd in Higher Education at the University of British Columbia, Canada, while simultaneously serving as a Graduate Research Assistant. Her academic and research focus centers on higher education policy, governance, institutional effectiveness, student success frameworks, and the relationship between holistic well-being and academic success.
Ms Moury Rahman
Director of Admissions
Ms. Moury Rahman is a proud alumna of Asian University for Women (AUW), where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health with minors in Environmental Science and Psychology in 2017. She currently serves as the Director of Admissions at AUW.
In her role, Moury is dedicated to lead comprehensive recruitment, outreach, and enrollment strategies with a dynamic team aimed at identifying talented female students from across Asia and the Middle East. Additionally, she is engaged to play a key role in marketing, digital strategy, and communications to strengthen AUW’s visibility and global presence. With over seven years of previous experience in project management, reporting, and program support at renowned international organizations such as IOM-UN Migration, UN Women, and OXFAM, Moury brought a wealth of expertise in strategic planning, outreach, and stakeholder engagement to AUW.
Moury is deeply committed to the transformative power of education and is passionate about empowering women from all backgrounds to realize their full potential, become leaders in their communities, and contribute meaningfully to a more equitable and inclusive world.
Ms Aparajita Rahman
Librarian
Aparajita Rahman is the Librarian at Asian University for Women (AUW). She holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Information Science and Library Management from the University of Dhaka.
She began her professional career in 2016 and has nearly a decade of experience in libraries, archives, and information services. Before entering academic librarianship, she worked with the Liberation War Museum as a Display Team Member and contributed to the translation of archival documents related to Bangladesh’s Liberation War.
She joined AUW in November 2016 as a Library Officer and has been serving the university for nearly ten years. She was later promoted to Librarian. Prior to joining AUW, she also worked as an Assistant Librarian at Delhi Public School Dhaka and International School Dhaka.
Her professional interests include academic librarianship, digital libraries, archives, information literacy, research support services, and emerging technologies in libraries. At AUW, she oversees library operations and supports students, faculty, and researchers through access to print and digital resources, research assistance, and information literacy initiatives.
