Resident Architect

 

Position: Resident Architect
Department: AUW Campus Project
Reports to: PD/DPD
Location: Permanent Campus, Asian University for Women, Chittagong

 

We are seeking an exceptionally qualified Resident Architect to fulfill a critical on-site leadership role during the construction phase of a landmark mega project. The successful candidate will ensure design integrity, uphold the highest quality standards, and guarantee absolute adherence to local regulatory frameworks.

Main Responsibilities of the Job:

The Resident Architect will serve as the primary technical authority on site, performing the following core functions:

Construction Monitoring and Quality Assurance

  • Routine Inspections: Conduct comprehensive monthly site inspections of the general architectural Works and
  • monthly reviews of the structural, civil, building services, and landscape works.
  • Compliance Verification: Ensure that construction is carried out in general compliance with project specifications and drawings.
  • Defect Reporting: Promptly bring any discovered deficiencies and defects to the notice of the Client and Project Managers.
  • Readiness Confirmation: Verify that specific items of work have been inspected by the Contractor/Client/Project Managers and are ready for formal design team inspection.

Documentation and Design Management

  • Submittal Review: Hold Primary Responsibility for the review of RFIs, material submittals, shop drawings, samples, and product data.
  • Design Clarification: Provide necessary supplemental details and drawings and resolve
  • minor issues of clarification.
  • Change Management: Provide information for minor Change Orders as required.
  • Closeout Documentation: Review the final As-Built Drawings, O&M Manuals, and warranties.
  • Principal Consultant Coordination: Liaise with the Principal Consultant for technical advice, particularly regarding co-ordination issues.

Local Regulatory Compliance

  • Sole Responsibility: Hold sole responsibility for local compliance with all building codes and regulations.
  • Permit Input: Provide all necessary information and input required for meeting local regulatory requirements, including construction and occupancy permits.
  • Solution Advising: Advise the project team on potential compliant solutions to local regulatory requirements.

Project Finalization

  • Meeting Attendance: Attend progress meetings with the contractor only when specifically asked by the Client.
  • Completion Review: Review the Works on completion and assist the Client and Project Managers in the preparation of the Punch List (Joint Responsibility).

Qualifications Required:

Experience: 10 to 12 years of professional experience in construction and architectural oversight is preferred.

Education: Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from a reputed university

Demographic:   Female candidates are preferable for this position.
