Professor, Associate, Assistant Professor in both Mathematics and Computer Science
Asian University for Women is a non-profit organization based in Chittagong, Bangladesh, that aims to educate and empower a growing network of female leaders via the transformative power of an American-style liberal arts and sciences education. AUW is open to women from all areas of life and especially promotes women who are the first in their families to pursue a university education.
The mission of the major in Mathematics & Computational Science is to educate and empower students to acquire computational knowledge while maintaining a strong mathematical foundation and to apply that knowledge to solve problems in science, engineering, industry, economics, and other social sciences where computation plays a significant role.
The Department of Mathematics and Computational Science invites applications for multiple faculty positions commencing in the Fall of 2023 in the following disciplines at any level (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor). One of the successful senior candidates would be nominated to be the Chair of the department.
- Mathematics (2 Faculty): Calculus, Multivariate Calculus, Introduction to Industrial Math and Computation, Scientific Computing, Computational Thinking for Problem Solving, Numerical Analysis & Computing, Mathematical Modeling, and Abstract Algebra.
- Computer Science (2 Faculty): Computer programming languages (Python, C, C++, JAVA), Database & SQL, Data Analysis and Visualization, Logic and Computation, Theory of Computation
Candidates applying for Assistant Professor positions should demonstrate a strong aptitude for conducting high-impact research. Candidates for Associate and Full Professor positions should have an outstanding record of research accomplishments and a strong dedication to service, mentoring, graduate teaching, and making an impact in multidisciplinary research. Candidates working at the interface of AUW initiatives are encouraged to apply, including Industrial Mathematics and Computation, Scientific Computing, Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Machine Learning, Internet and Mobile Applications, Internet of Things, Computer Networks, and Security and Privacy.
Candidates must possess a PhD degree in mathematics or computer science and have published in prestigious journals as well as subject-matter journals/conferences. Additionally, expertise in conducting interdisciplinary research and a strong publication record corresponding with the level of the position for which he or she applies are expected. The evidence of a track record in successfully attracting external funding and independent research for senior positions is required. Female candidates are particularly encouraged to apply.
