HR Director

Position: HR Director

Unit: HR

Reports to: Vice Chancellor

Start Date: As soon as possible

The Asian University for Women is seeking applications for the HR Director. The HR Director is responsible for developing and implementing HR strategies and policies, and managing the entire recruitment process for AUW faculty and staff. S/he must have senior HR experience and working experience with search firms.  In-depth knowledge of Bangladesh labor law is required.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with AUW’s overall strategy
  • Review and develop HR policies to ensure good employee-institution relations and to facilitate the speedy and equitable resolution of grievances and disciplinary cases
  • Manage the recruitment, selection and induction processes for faculty and staff
  • Support the development, engagement, motivation and preservation of human capital within AUW
  • Assess training needs to apply and monitor training programs
  • Nurture a positive working environment
  • Oversee and manage a performance appraisal system that drives high performance
  • Regularly review remuneration policies to ensure they serve the needs of AUW and of its employees
  • Oversee and manage the issue and review of staff contracts
  • Report to the Vice-Chancellor and Board of Trustees on all HR issues
  • Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Proven working experience as senior HR Executive
  • Experience of working with search consultants
  • People oriented and results driven
  • Demonstrable experience with Human Resources metrics
  • Knowledge of HR systems and databases
  • Ability to design strategy along with leadership skills
  • Excellent active listening, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company
  • In-depth knowledge of Bangladesh labor law and HR best practices
  • Understanding of local and international contexts for AUW’s work
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English
  • Experience of working in an international environment
