Finance Officer

 

Position: Finance Officer
Unit: Finance Department
Reports to: Finance Director
Job Type: Full-time
Location: Chattogram, Bangladesh

 

Main Responsibilities of the Job:

  • Making payments in cash against approved invoices/documents.
  • Receiving cash against tuition fee, utility payments and refund of advances etc.
  • Perform cash reconciliation on daily basis and maintain record of the same.
  • Recording receipts and payments into the financial software.
  • Responsible for month end closing process and preparation of financial statements.
  • Analysis of monthly general ledger account activity, journal entries, accruals, variances to forecast, and reconciliation of various accounts.
  • Maintenance of various spreadsheets to support financial transactions and analysis of various expenses.
  • Assist in preparation of audit work papers for year-end audits with outside auditors.
  • Participate in the annual budget process and interim forecasting as well as analysis data for budget variance.
  • Assist in executing University’s policies and compliance procedures.
  • Ensure VAT & Tax deductions at sources from vendors as per rules.
  • Preparation of TDS certificate for vendor withholding Tax and VAT.
  • Coding of vouchers, data entry in ERP, Validation of data.
  • Maintaining voucher files.
  • Adjustment of advances including liaison with Dhaka office, monitoring, reviewing of outstanding amounts.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance for the organization.
  • Any other job assigned by Finance Director or any higher authority.

Other Requirements:

  • Educational Background:
    • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • Professional qualification such as CACC (Partly qualified).
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 1+ years of practical experience in Cash Management, Accounting, Tax, VAT, and donor compliance.
    • Maintain appropriate technology that meets the organization’s information requirements and financial resources.
    • Develop internal controls to minimize risks to the organization.
    • Negotiate with Banks for financial services as required and appropriate.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of Bangladeshi tax and VAT regulations.
    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
    • Proficiency in financial software.
    • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Languages: Fluent in both Bengali and English.
