Position: Coordinator (Research and Capacity Development)

Unit: Center for Climate Change and Environmental Health (CCCEH), AUW

Reports to: Director, Center for Climate Change and Environmental Health (CCCEH), AUW

Asian University for Women (AUW), an independent international university with students drawn from 19 countries across Asia and Middle East. It is an educational institution looking for a candidate who will play an important role in enhancing the research capacity of CCCEH.

Main Responsibilities of the Job:

  • Contribute to identifying, selecting, and writing grant applications related to the center’s thematic and research areas.
  • Support and coordinate with the Center’s current and future Volunteer Research Assistants.
  • Coordinate with the focal person at International Development Research Center (IDRC) for ongoing projects.
  • Coordinate with the Chief Teaching Fellow of the MA in Education program on IDRC projects.
  • Assist in recruiting students funded by IDRC and support them in their field research activities.
  • Assist with planning and coordination of project activities and implementation.
  • Administer or oversee fundraising operations of the center as well as community outreach.
  • Oversee the project budget, including tracking billing, payments and other financial transactions, and assist the AUW finance department.
  • Schedule and organize project-related meetings and events.
  • Oversee the use of technology for project operations, such as video conferencing technology, presentation software and other communications technologies
  • Create and maintain project records, progress reports, presentations and proposals.
  • Facilitate positive relations between the project team, the public and the media, different departments within AUW, and all other involved parties.
  • Manage marketing and communications (media relations, social media).

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

  • Have a minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences or related fields with sound knowledge of environmental health issues.
  • Have sound knowledge of climate change, internally displaced people, and disaster management.
  • Have demonstrated capacity in research and grant proposal writing.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills
  • Experience Requirements: 1 to 3 year(s)
  • Strong fluency in English and Bangla (both spoken and written)
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment with excellent communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and capacity to build constructive partnerships and engage in effective teamwork.
