Assistant Director: English Language Programs

 

Position: Assistant Director: English Language Programs
Reports to: Director Pre-UG
Location: Chittagong (BD)

 

Main Responsibilities:

The English Language Program Assistant Director is responsible for all Pre-UG English language courses (textbooks, curriculum, scheduling, oversight) including General Studies, ESL, Foundation, Immersion, Community School, University Staff English Support, and Vocational Training.

Specifically, the Assistant Director will:

  • Develop, establish, and regularly review all English language curricula.
  • Establish and support an English immersive program.
  • Create specially tailored English language courses to newly arrived students as needed.
  • In conjunction with the Learning Center Director, create tutorials for students within the program.
  • In conjunction with the Director of Student Success & Wellness, create IEPs for students.
  • Coordinate schedules of teachers and tutors.
  • Oversee and meet regularly with head teachers of each level.
  • Attend meetings with level groups as required.
  • Assist with professional development of English language faculty as needed.
  • Recruit new faculty and tutors in conjunction with the Director of Pre-Undergraduate Programs
  • Orient, train, support and lead the efforts of the English language teaching program faculty.
  • Coordinate faculty observations including occasional classroom observations
  • Assess and evaluate learning outcomes as required by UG.
  • Maintain English language programs data

Other Requirements:

  • MA or Ph.D. in TESOL. (CELTA or TEFL preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience teaching ESL at a post-secondary level.
  • Senior Management experience within an educational setting.
  • Experience leading teams and individuals.
  • Experience in curriculum and program development.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience working with diverse, displaced, and/or marginalized populations
  • Exceptional interpersonal and social-emotional skills.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed education.
