AUW Student Completes Solo Trek Through Nepal

26, Feb, 2018

February 26, 2018, Chittagong, Bangladesh “I want to make people believe that travel can be revolutionary.” In 2017, Binita Jirel, a final year student at AUW, won a travel grant from Solo Travel Nepal to venture through Nepal on her own. This week, the video of her travels was released. By completing this 14-day exploration of Upper Mustang, Binita hoped to break the gender stereotypes surrounding solo travel—an activity which is rarely done by women in Nepal. Binita plans to start this process in her home village by showing her travel documentary. She hopes that her adventure will inspire other young women from her community to begin a similar life-changing excursion.
