AUW Launches UK Support Foundation

A UK Support Foundation was launched at a splendid gala held at the Sofitel Hotel in Terminal Five at Heathrow Airport in London. Hosted by Sunita and Surinder Arora of the Arora International Hotels, the event was attended by over 70 distinguished guests. Mrs. Cherie Blair, Chancellor of AUW; Kamal Ahmad, founder and Acting Vice Chancellor of AUW spoke as did the Surinder Arora, the newly named co-chair of the AUW UK Support Foundation. Two AUW sudents, Mursal Hamraz from Afghanistan, and Aswathy Vijayakumar from India, spoke passionately about their education at AUW.

UKSupportThe programme was MC’ed by Ms. Brenda Trenowden, Managing Director and Head of UK & Ireland, Global Client Management at BNY Mellon who has been named as the Treasurer of the AUW UK Support Foundation.

Besides commitments for scholarships and other activities at AUW, the evening also saw the announcement of a partnership with the law firm of Clifford Chance which will sponsor one scholarship as well as host four AUW students as interns next summer. The law firm of Dorsey & Whitney provided pro bono legal support for the creation of the AUW UK Support Foundation.
