“A Seat at the Table: How Women’s Education and Leadership Shapes Strong Communities,” an event co-hosted by AUW and Abbott Laboratories

September 19, 2016, New York City: AUW and Abbott Laboratories recently hosted the discussion event, “A Seat at the Table: How Women’s Education and Leadership Shapes Strong Communities.” The event in New York discussed the benefits of increasing women’s access to education and leadership opportunities. First Lady of Japan Mrs. Akie Abe argued that building a global network of compassionate women leaders will ultimately strengthen communities and improve society.

AUW is grateful to all the speakers for sharing their time and insights with us: First Lady of Japan Akie Abe; Chairman of AUW Board of Trustees and Former Foreign Minister of Bangladesh, Dr. Dipu Moni; and AUW alumnae Saren (Cambodia), Anowara (Bangladesh), and Bich (Vietnam). The event was moderated by Katherine Pickus, Abbott’s Divisional Vice President of Global Citizenship & Policy, and Kamal Ahmad, AUW Support Foundation President and CEO.
